Forza Horizon 6: Nissan R390 (GT1) Complete Acquisition Guide

Forza Horizon 6 features an incredible lineup of cars, but some are much harder to track down than others. If you have been scrolling through the Autoshow looking for the legendary 1998 Nissan R390 (GT1), you have probably noticed it is completely missing from the buy menu. Known across the community as the "mysterious Nissan of the mountain passes," this homologation special cannot be bought with standard credits.

Instead, Playground Games tied this monster to the revamped Discover Japan campaign progression. If you want to garage this absolute icon of 90s racing, you will need to hunt down its hidden barn.

Here is exactly how to unlock the rumor, find the barn, and add the R390 to your collection without wasting your hard-earned credits.

Step 1: Unlock the Barn Rumor

If you try to drive straight to the barn location right at the start of the game, you will just find an empty space. Forza Horizon 6 handles things differently this time around—rumors do not just trigger randomly while you drive. The game’s 15 hidden barn finds are strictly tied to your campaign status.

  • Rank Required: You must reach Level 6, which grants you Adventurer status.

  • How to Level Up Fast: Focus on filling out stamps in your Collector's Journal. The fastest way to do this is by knocking out the yellow-marker story missions, conquering touge and road races, and smashing regional mascots. If you want a change of pace, buying player houses and completing food delivery missions also give your rank a massive boost.

  • The Trigger: The second you hit the Adventurer rank, the game will automatically pop up a dialog and pinpoint a specific purple search zone on your map. That is your cue.

Step 2: Locate the Barn

Once the rumor is active, grab a solid off-road build or a rally car and head out. The R390 is tucked away deep in the mountainous terrain in the southwest corner of the map.

  • Region: Ohtani

  • Exact Landmarks: Open your map and look for the Bridge Underpasses Trailblazer gate.

  • The Route: Head directly to the Trailblazer gate. Just to the left of the gate, you will see an unmarked dirt path breaking off into the brush. Take that path and follow it all the way up into the hills. Keep climbing until you reach the very top of the hill, where you will find an isolated, weathered barn structure waiting for you.

Step 3: Vehicle Restoration

Driving up to the doors triggers the classic barn find cutscene, showing the rare GT1 road car sitting on a mechanical lift under a thick layer of dust.

Once the cutscene ends, the car is sent back to your main garage, but it is not ready to drive just yet. It requires a pretty lengthy restoration period.

Pro Tip: The game will give you an explicit option to instantly complete the restoration by paying a hefty fee in Credits. Do not fall for it! Paying to skip the timer is a total waste of money. Just head back out into the open world, finish a handful of race events, or work on your story chapters. Within a short session, the garage will notify you that the vehicle has been automatically restored for free.

Once the restoration notification pops, you can head to any festival site or house to claim your pristine, midnight-blue 90s supercar. Toss a solid tune on it, hit the mountain passes, and enjoy one of the best-handling machines Forza Horizon 6 has to offer.
